Automated Assessment of Geometric Scanner Resolution
نویسنده
چکیده
Geometric resolution is one of several performance criteria which have to be considered when evaluating and comparing diierent scanners. This paper describes a strategy how to investigate the geometric scanner resolution, in particular for high performance lm scanners. For reasons of objectivity and investigation speed these testing procedures are automated as far as possible. We compare visually detected and automated evaluation results.

Evaluation of the performance of parallel-hole collimator for high resolution small animal SPECT: A Monte Carlo study
Introduction: Image quality and accuracy of in vivo activity quantification in SPECT are affected by collimator penetration and scatter components, especially in high energy imaging. These phenomena highly depend on the collimator characteristic and photon energy. The presence of penetrated and scattered photons from collimator in SPECT images degrades spatial resolution, contr...
متن کاملThe effect of focal spot size on the spatial resolution of variable resolution X-ray CT scanner
Background: A variable resolution X-ray (VRX) CT scanner provides a great increase in the spatial resolution. In VRX CT scanners, the spatial resolution of the system and its field of view (FOV) can be changed according to the object size. One of the main factors that limit the spatial resolution of VRX CT scanner is the effect of the X-ray focal spot. Materials and Methods: A theoreti...
متن کاملEffect of Phase-Encoding Reduction on Geometric Distortion and BOLD Signal Changes in fMRI
Introduction Echo-planar imaging (EPI) is a group of fast data acquisition methods commonly used in fMRI studies. It acquires multiple image lines in k-space after a single excitation, which leads to a very short scan time. A well-known problem with EPI is that it is more sensitive to distortions due to the used encoding scheme. Source of distortion is inhomogeneity in the static B0 field that ...
متن کاملAssessment of X-Ray Crosstalk in a Computed Tomography Scanner with Small Detector Elements Using Monte Carlo Method
Introduction: Crosstalk is a leakage of X-ray or light produced in a matrix of X-ray detectors or array of photodiodes in one element to other elements affecting on image contrast and spatial resolution. In this study, we assessed X-ray crosstalk in a computed tomography (CT) scanner with small detector elements to estimate the effect of various parameters such as X-ray tube voltage, detector e...
متن کاملAutomated Generation and Updating of Digital City Models Using High-resolution Line Scanning Systems
During the past few years lots of research has been carried out in the field of building extraction from airborne laser scanner data and airborne large-scale imagery. This data can be used to create highly detailed Digital Surface Models (DSMs) and eventually Digital City Models (DCMs). It seems that there exists also a potential in data acquired by high-resolution satellites and airborne multi...
